Happy Cinco De Mayo !!!

Miss Venus, Conejita (rabbit in Spanish) is a trained couture pet fashion model. Her owner Miguel Rodriguez has put a lot of time and love into training this special girl for photo shoots. I first met them at the PupScouts Pre Oscar red carpet event last month. She was a stand out in an Angelina Jolie inspired gown. ❤
I had never seen a dog pose like that EVER. Miguel has a Pet Spa in Jackson Heights named after Venus, “Venus & Dalila” http://www.jacksonhtsdoggrooming.com/ .
He also designs these amazing gowns she is modeling in the images. They are 3 special gowns created for Cinco de Mayo this year, May 5th.
Venus is 1 of 14 fur children Miguel has adopted over the years. She was a birthday gift 5 years ago and the best one her has ever received.
Her other brothers and sisters are all rescue animals, who I can’t wait to meet and photograph as well.

Today is National Puppy Day is a special day to celebrate the magic and unconditional love that puppies bring to our lives. But more importantly, it’s a day to help save orphaned puppies across the globe and educate the public about the horrors of puppy mills, as well as further our mission for a nation of puppy-free pet stores.

I first saw the PupScouts on an amazing show called “Spoiled Rotten Pets” back in April 2013, when I first arrived in New York. I thought to myself, they look like my kind of people and it turns out they are. Fellow dog loving people, who are just crazy about their pups, all gathered for the 1st Pre-Oscar Red Carpet Pawty, Sunday on the Lower Eastside of New York. I was in my element as usual meeting and photographing all these amazing pups with their wonderful owners. There was no expense spared when it came to dressing these fabulous little fur babies in Couture gowns & suits, to walk the red carpet.
We had Victoria Viscardi (Mumma to Gia Viscardi) hosting the red carpet and asking who’s wearing what. We had the very talented Pet Fashion Designer Kevin Ugarte with some amazing gowns being modeled by his baby girl Princess and also Nina the Yorkie. The best part being, that money was raised for several different charities, helping save dogs over the New York area. I can’t wait for the next event. 🙂

Happy Australia Day! ( a little belated I know)
These are my 3 favorite little Aussie Terriers I photographed again this year out at Cape Cod. Scrappy, Tish & Manny.
We have had lots of snow here in New York for the last few days, so I didn’t really get to celebrate Australia Day as I planned.
I wanted to have a housewarming / Australia Day party in my new studio, but Juno the North East Blizzard had other ideas.
I’m sure all my Aussie friends and family, drank enough and put several extra sausages on the barbie for me. 🙂
